CALDWELL, Idaho - Late three-pointers by Heather Adams and Monica Garcia helped Northwest Nazarene knock off The College of Idaho, 76-68, in a women’s basketball exhibition game inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The Coyotes got within 68-64 on a pair of Marquina Gilliam-Hicks free throws with three minutes to play, but on consecutive possessions, with the shot clock winding down, Adams and Garcia canned the long-range jumpers to put the game away.

After NNU jumped out to a 7-0 just two minutes into the game, the Lady Yotes responded with a 17-2 run to take the lead – pushing the margin to 23-13 with 11 minutes left in the period. However, the Crusaders closed the half on a 19-2 run to take a 43-35 lead at the break and never trailed again. The two teams used pressure defense to combine for 63 turnovers on the night.

Briaunna King led all scorers with 18 points and eight rebounds, including the first nine second half points for NNU. Falissa Smith had 12 points and Garcia added ten in the win. Nicole Gall had 13 points, seven rebounds, and seven steals, with Gilliam-Hicks adding 11 points.

NNU won despite converting just 7-of-16 free throws, while the rebound battle was deadlocked at 42-42.

The Lady Yotes return to action with three games this weekend in Salt Lake City, beginning Thursday against Carroll College.
