Tyson Christie had 15 points in the Northwest win at C of I
CALDWELL, Idaho - Northwest University closed the first half on a 25-4 run, rolling to their fifth-straight win on the season, 72-57 over The College of Idaho, in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams.
The Eagles (7-1, 1-0 CCC), ranked No. 14 in the latest NAIA Division II Top-25 Poll, held the Coyotes without a field goal for a nine minute stretch during the opening period – as The C of I (2-8, 0-1) missed 13-straight shots and committed five turnovers in the drought, building a 41-16 halftime lead.
The Yotes would close in the second half, using an 11-0 run at the eight-minute mark to get within 51-40, but get no closer than ten points the rest of the way.
Tyson Christie led four NU players in double-figures with 15 points and ten rebounds, with Stedman Richardson adding 11 points and 11 boards. Greg George had 14 points with Daley Landon chipping in with 11.
The Coyotes were led by 14 points from Steve Peres, but struggled to 33-percent shooting on the night – falling for the sixth-straight time. The C of I shot a woeful 5-of-27 from outside the arc, including an 0-for-12 clip in the first half.
The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, meeting Evergreen State at 5:30 p.m.
