Beacons are Giant Killers Again, Upend WPC
PORTLAND, Ore. – Ben Voogd hit a running teardrop in the lane with four seconds on the clock to give Northwest Christian a win over No. 7 Warner Pacific tonight in Cascade Conference action.
The result is a Beacon victory over a ranked opponent for the second weekend in a row. NCU defeated No. 3 Oregon Tech last Friday in Eugene.
Warner Pacific was able to work for a good look in the final seconds, but Reggie Guyton’s three point attempt rimmed out.
The host Knights seemed to have the game well in hand after Webster Moreland drove the lane for a rim shaking dunk, giving WP a 64-56 lead with 4:16 to play. Northwest Christian held the Knights to a single free throw the rest of the way, and finished the game on an 11-1 run to earn the upset.
