FINAL RESULTS

SALEM, Ore. – Freshman Hailey Thomas (Albany, Ore.) brought home the program's first-ever individual title with a 12-over 85 Monday, as Corban's women's golf team finished third at the Willamette Invitational played at Ilahee Hills Country Club.

"Today's win feels great," said Thomas. "I am so excited and cannot believe that something like this could happen in my first season at Corban."

Thomas outlasted a pair of Linfield players – Brinn Hovde and Brittany Johnson – by one shot en route to bring home her first-ever individual title at the collegiate level.

"I came very close to winning a tournament during the fall season," commented Thomas. "Winning in just my seventh collegiate tournament is unbelievable!"

The first-year Warrior shot the lowest score on the opening nine holes thanks to a 3-over 39 that included a tournament-high two birdies. Thomas was one of only two players joining fellow Warrior and sophomore Morgan McComish (Salem, Ore.) to card a birdie over the first nine holes. After holding a three-stroke lead heading into the final nine holes, Thomas struggled on the back nine thanks to a nine-over 46 but held on for the one-stroke win.

McComish would finish 10th individually thanks to a 20-over 93, while junior Amber Meeker (St. Helens, Ore.) turned in a season-low score of 43-over 116 to tie for 15th overall. Junior Brittney VanderHoogt (Vancouver, Wash.) would round out the Warriors' counting scores with a 47-over 120 to finish 18th individually.

Rounding out Corban's players was freshman Ashlyn Roos (Salem, Ore.), who was playing in her first collegiate tournament for the Warriors, with a 66-over 139 to finish 19th overall .

Corban would conclude today's event in third place overall thanks to a combined team total of 122-over 414, which was behind tournament winner Linfield (58-over 350) and invitational-host Willamette (110-over 402). Lewis & Clark would round out the tournament competitors with a combined team score of 172-over 464.

The Warriors will return to the links on Monday & Tuesday, March 22nd & 23rd, at the opening Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament of the spring season – the Northwest Christian Invitational – being played at Tokatee Golf Club in McKenzie River. Both days will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
