Owls Notch First Win of 2010 Season
Great Falls, Mont. – The Oregon Tech women’s soccer team captured their first win of the 2010 campaign after a 6-3 victory at the hands of host University of Great Falls.
Oregon Tech improves to 1-1 on the season and next face Rocky Mountain College on Saturday, August 28th, with the contest set to begin at 10:00 AM.
Crystal Foster put the Owls on top early with a goal in the 22nd minute. The Lady Argos, however, tied the contest quickly with a goal on a free kick in the 26th minute. Shortly after, Tech’s Kenzie Harding connected on her first career goal to put Tech up 2-1, but UGF answered again with a quick goal to tie it up, 2-2. Ashlyn Hanson of the Owls finished off the first half scoring with her first goal of her collegiate career, when her blast hit the right post and bounced through. Tech went into the half with a slim 3-2 lead.
Freshman Rebekah Nisbet played a key role for the Owls in the second half, after she put Tech up 4-2 on an unassisted goal in the 48th minute – her first goal as an Owl. Crystal Foster then answered with her second goal of the game, on a Nisbet assist, as the Owls moved on to a 6-3 victory.
