SALEM, Ore. – Sophomore Chandra Baskoro (Gresham, Ore.) registered a team-high 14 kills, 17 digs, and six service aces to help lead Corban's women's volleyball team to a four-set victory over the visiting Geoducks of Evergreen Saturday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Baskoro was aided offensively by junior Tiffany Land (Independence, Ore.), who registered 11 kills on 22 swings with just one hitting error en route to helping lead the host Warriors its eighth straight win over Evergreen (25-14, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22).

After suffering a heartbreaking five-set loss to Northwest the previous night, Corban needed a strong response early against visiting Evergreen. A kill by sophomore Jenny Harman (Salem, Ore.) put Corban ahead 13-12 at the half way point. The Warriors then took advantage and poured the pressure on, mounting aN 8-1 run, capped off by Baskaro's service ace. Kills by senior Teri Braun (Dallas, Ore.) and Baskaro sealed the Warriors win in set #1 (25-15).

Not to be outdone in set #2, Evergreen built a 10-5 lead after Stephanie Peshlakai-John forced an attacking error. Corban rallied and pushed the tempo, tying the game at 14-14 on Baskaro's kill on an assist by junior Megan Dees (Tehachapi, Calif.). Corban regained the lead, 19-18, when Jazzmin Garcia's serve sailed wide. Corban then took a page from their first set victory, throwing down a 6-1 run to end the set (25-19). Land and freshman Bailey Wold (Spokane, Wash.) accounted for three kills to put the set out of reach.

Set #3 was all Evergreen after both teams traded points until a 13-13 tie. The Geoducks mounted a last-gasp attack and pushed the match in their favor 20-18 on a kill by Kaitlin Swift. Teaming up with the senior, Jasmine Horton's kill ended the third set with a 25-22 Evergreen victory.

Corban put the Geoducks away in the fourth and final set after building a 9-5 lead coming by way of Wold's kill. Both squads exchanged points until the Warriors pulled away down the stretch, surviving a four-point Geoduck surge. Harman's seventh kill of the night put the match to rest and gave the Warriors the win (25-22).

Offensively, Corban was lead by Baskoro's team-high kill and dig totals to go along with freshman Bethany Durre (Bend, Ore.), who added 16 digs to go along with two service aces. At the net, Land registered five blocks while Dees handed out 17 assists to go along with 12 assists apiece by sophomore Karisa Calderon (Murrieta, Calif.) and freshman Alex Matulewicz (Gresham, Ore.).

With tonight's result, Corban improves to 3-3 overall and notches its first Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the season moving to 1-3 in league play. On the other side, Evergreen falls to 2-5 overall and suffers their second conference loss of the season dropping to 1-2 in league matches. The Warriors will return to the court next Friday, September 17th, as they continue conference play against rival Northwest Christian beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
