CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were never threatened, as the Coyotes won their fifth-straight home game, a wire-to-wire 80-54 victory over Southern Oregon, in tonight’s Cascade Conference men’s match-up inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The Coyotes (10-11, 7-3 CCC) pulled into a second-place tie in the league standings with the win, holding SOU without a made field goal for the first six minutes of the game. Kelly McCarty started the surge with a jumper, followed by a trey from Duncan Koga, with McCarty converting a rare four-point play to push the margin to 9-0. Matt Ballenger added a three of his own, with McCarty laying one home to give the Yotes the large lead. The C of I would lead by as many as 22 in the opening half, as the Raiders (12-8, 5-5) were held to 4-of-22 shooting.

Southern would switch to a zone defense early in the second half, but the Yotes would get a pair of jumpers from Krispin Banks, a shot clock buzzer beating three from Miguel Rodriguez, a trey from Steve Peres, and a pair of McCarty free throws to cap a 12-0 run, vaulting the lead to 54-24 with 15:33 remaining in the game.

McCarty led all scorers with 22 points and seven assists, hitting 7-of-9 shots from the floor. Koga recorded a career-high with 14 points, including four three-pointers, while Banks logged ten points and five rebounds. The Yotes hit 55-percent of their field goal attempts, including 9-of-18 shooting from outside the arc.

Sam Osofsky scored a season-high 17 points for the Raiders, who lost for the fifth-straight time on the Yotes home floor. Leading scorer, Jordan Highland, was held to nine points, while second-leading scorer, Kyle Tedder, was held scoreless by The C of I defense. The Yotes are now 8-0 in 2010-11 when scoring 75-or-more points in a game.

The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, hosting No. 7 ranked Oregon Tech at 7:30 p.m.
