ASHLAND, ORE. -- The Northwest Christian men hit on 61 percent of their shots in the second half and scored a 71-63 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

Northwest Christian improved to 8-17 overall and 2-11 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 13-10 overall and 6-7 in league action. The Raiders travel to Northwest next Friday.

Kellen Spicer led the Beacons with 19 points.

Jordan Highland led the Raiders with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Tedder added 16 points and four 3-pointers.

The two teams struggled offensively in the first half as the Beacons held a 30-29 halftime lead.

The Raiders came out with five straight points by Highland, a 3-pointer and dunk on an inbounds play to take a 34-30 advantage.

A 3-pointer by Tedder kept the SOU lead at four at 43-39 with 11:12 to play, but the lead started to slowly slip away.

Free throws by Brent McKee gave the Beacons a 50-45 lead and 3-pointers by Jordan Myers and Quentin Guidry had the Beacons up 56-49 and rolling.

The Raiders got to within five at 68-63 on a 3-pointer by Tedder with 32 seconds to play, but that's as close as the hosts would get.
