PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific received 40 points from their bench to lead the Knights to a 73-61 victory over Northwest Christian today at C.C. Perry Gym.

Traevone Bowie was the most effective substitute for WP, scoring a game high 19 points including 5 of 9 shooting from three point range. Other super subs were Nathan Holthenrichs (11 points, 4 rebounds), and Sean Gaines (8 points, 5 rebounds).

Midway through the first half the game looked to be a rout in favor of the hosts, as Warner Pacific sprinted to a 30-15 lead with 7:53 remaining in the period. Bowie hit three point goals in three straight possessions to spark the Knights to the big lead. The Beacons regrouped however, and cut the deficit down to 37-27 at the break.

NCU came out firing in the second period and opened the half on a 8-0 run, led by Quentin Guidry who scored 12 of his 17 points after halftime. The visiting Beacons continued to battle and managed to take a 52-51 lead on a trey by Brian Hampton with 8:45 to play.

The NCU lead was short lived however, as Warner Pacific withstood the charge thanks in part to seven points down the stretch from Webster Moreland.

Moreland finished with 17 points and eight rebounds on the night, while post Andre Davis contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Guidry’s 17 was the high for Northwest Christian, while Kellen Spicer added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

WP improves to 9-7 overall and 3-4 in CCC play, while the Beacons fall to 5-12 and 1-6.
