Oregon Tech's Rebekah Matteri had 10 Saves in Tough 2-1 Loss
(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) Trinity Lutheran College scored with less than 2-minutes remaining in overtime to down Oregon Tech 2-1 in Non-Conference action Wednesday night at Trevor Derrah Field. The Lady Owls fall to 4-5-1 on the season with the loss and the Lady Eagles move to 4-7-3 with the win.
Oregon Tech was first on the board in the 28th minute when Rebekah Nisbet took a corner kick and bent into the right of the goal to give Oregon Tech a 1-0 lead.
The teams would head into the half with Tech holding on to the 1-0 lead.
Shey Thommasen took a loose ball, beat a defender, then hit a rocket past Oregon Tech’s keeper to tie the game at 1-1 with just 4 minutes and 31 seconds remaining in the game.
Oregon Tech looked to take the lead on two occasions with under 2 minutes to play but both goal opportunities where turned away by the Lady Eagles Keeper Kaylin Wilson to force overtime.
Alex Chick put an end to overtime as she took a cross from Stephanie Gonzalez and hit the game winner into the upper right of the goal in the 98th minute giving the visitors from Everett, Washington the 2-1 Golden Goal win.
Oregon Tech held a 22-19 advantage in shots with TLC having a 12-8 advantage in shots on goal.
Both keepers played well with Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Matteri saved game high 10 shots but picked up the loss with Trinity Lutheran’s Keeper Kaylin Wilson grabbing 7 saves in picking up the win.
The Lady Owls will next Southern Oregon University this Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm in Ashland, Oregon. Trinity Lutheran will also face the Raiders next playing in Ashland tomorrow at 3:00 pm.
