Host Team Holds Lead at Corban Invitational

SALEM, Ore. – For the first time all season, Corban's men's golf team holds the overnight lead by five strokes over Concordia at the end of the opening day of the Corban Invitational being played Monday at Creekside Golf Club.
The host Warriors posted the lowest round of the tournament thanks to a combined team score of 15-over 303 over today's final 18 holes, as Corban (311-303=617) leads Concordia (311-311=622) with one round remaining. Warner Pacific (323-320=643) has a slim two-stroke lead over The College of Idaho (334-311=645) for third place, while Northwest Christian (327-329=656) sits in fifth place after the opening 36 holes.
Individually, Concordia's Jed Dalton (73-73=146) put together two solid rounds with a pair of 73s en route to earning a one-stroke lead in the clubhouse. Cavalier teammate Jesse Heinly (77-70=147), who was the only player to post a sub-par round thanks to a 2-under 70 in the second round, sits in second place four strokes ahead of Corban's Joey Duwe. Rounding out the Top 5 individuals are Warner Pacific's Andrew Johnson (76-77=153) and The College of Idaho's Austin Giesie (76-77=153), while Northwest Christian is led by reigning CCC Player of the Year Tyler Falk (73-81=154) with a sixth place showing.
The third and final round of the Corban Invitational tees off tomorrow – Tuesday, October 18th – starting with a shot gun start at 9:00 a.m. at Creekside Golf Club in Salem.
