The College of Idaho's Trish Gibbens took home her second straight medalist honor at a CCC event thanks to a come-from-behind win Tuesday at the Corban Invitational.
Concordia Captures Team Title, C of I's Gibbens Medalist at Corban Invitational
FINAL RESULTS
SALEM, Ore. – Concordia's women's golf team captured the team title with a wire-to-wire victory, while The College of Idaho's Trish Gibbens overcame a two-stroke deficit in the final round to earn medalist honors Tuesday at the Corban Invitational played at Creekside Golf Club.
The Cavaliers (317-310-316-943) put together the lowest three rounds of the tournament to outlast C of I (325-322-321=968) by 25 strokes, while Northwest Christian (357-349-353=1,059), Warner Pacific (365-355-366=1,086), and tournament-host Corban (364-380-383=1,127) rounded out the competing teams.
Individually, Gibbens (75-73-74=222) posted a final 18-hole score of 2-over 74 to overtake the lead from Concordia's Sara Molyneux (77-69-80=226) by four strokes. Rounding out the Top 5 individuals on the leader board were The College of Idaho's Baylee Borchers (78-75-75=228), Concordia's Holly Speer (80-74-77=231), and Concordia's Sunshine Powers (78-80-76=234).
Northwest Christian was led by Sarah Crofcheck's sixth place showing thanks to a 54-hole total of 21-over 237 (77-79-81) that was the second lowest three-round total in school history.
Meanwhile, Warner Pacific got a seventh place showing from Scotti Jo Helmick (88-83-83=254) and host Corban was led by a 17th place finish by Katie Baker (89-98-91=278).
Following the final CCC tournament of the fall season, four teams – College of Idaho, Corban, Northwest Christian, and Warner Pacific – have concluded the first half of their 2011-12 season with Concordia still having one final tournament remaining next week in Victoria, British Columbia.
