(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) The Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls got a Big home win Saturday afternoon downing Cascade Conference foe Evergreen State 5-2 at Trevor Derrah Field. Oregon Tech improves to 2-4 in CCC play and 4-6 overall with the win. The Geoducks slip to 1-4-1 in the CCC and 2-6-1 overall with the loss.
Nick Zamudio scored just 6 minutes into the game taking a Dustin Hirata cross and heading it onto the goal to give Tech the 1-0 early lead.
Talon Wyatt gave the Hustlin’ Owls a 2-0 lead as headed a Victor Corona corner kick into the goal in the 18th minute.
Corey Johnson quickly quieted the home crowed as he took a Jack Fortune cross and scored making it a 2-1 game in the 21st minute.
Just 2 minutes later Victor Corona gave Tech a 3-1 lead as he took a Jimmy Merkley pass and scored in the 23rd minute.
Caleb Phillips for Evergreen found the ball off an Oregon Tech defender and scored with just 26 left in the half to make it a 3-2 match at the break.
Oregon Tech then took a 4-2 lead when Dustin Hirata scored from 30 yards out on one of the best shots of the year, scorching a rocket past the Geoduck Keeper in the 65th minute.
Hirata then assisted Ashton Betts in the 69th minute as Tech put the game away 5-1.
For the match Tech held a 25-10 advantage in shots and an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Tech Keeper Tanner Lee had 3 saves in the match with Mitch Treed grabbing 6 saves between the pipes for the Geoducks.
Oregon Tech will next travel to Caldwell, Idaho to take on the College of Idaho (4-6, 3-3 CCC) on Friday, October 7th.
