KIRKLAND, Wash. – Freshman Acacia Johnson (Puyallup, Wash.) scored two first half goals to help lift Northwest University over Warner Pacific College, 3-0, in Cascade Conference play this afternoon.

Johnson scored at the 23:36 mark as her first shot came off WPC’s goalkeeper, Nikita Rivera, and her second shot found the mark from 6 yards out. Her second goal came less than 7 minutes (31:44) later as she took Jordyn Wilson’s (Snoqualmie, Wash.) pass and beat a defender with a nice spin move and scored from 11 yards out from the left side. Northwest would take a 2-0 lead into halftime and would hold Warner Pacific to just one shot to their seventeen.

The second half would go scoreless until the 89:12 mark when Chelsea Pennington (Kent, Wash.) dribbled the ball up the middle from 35 yards out, splitting two defenders and putting in her right footer from 15 yards out.

Northwest U. (8-3-4, 4-1-2 CCC) finished with a 30-3 margin in shots with 14 shots on goal. Warner Pacific’s (4-5-1, 3-5-0 CCC) goalkeeper, Rivera finished the game with 11 saves while NU’s Jordan Holmes (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) earned the shutout in goal for the Eagles. Senior midfielder Abby Brauer (Kent, Wash.) led NU with 8 shots, 3 on goal, while Acacia Johnson had 6 shots, 3 on goal. The victory maintains Northwest’s hold on third place in the CCC, four points behind Southern Oregon.

"I felt we were creative today and I'm happy with the result," stated Erin Redwine, Eagle head coach, "but pleased most of all we created opportunities for ourselves. I wish we could have finished a few more of our chances, but this win will give us some confidence going into this weekend's game."

Northwest U. remains at home and will host Oregon Tech in a 1:00 p.m. game this Saturday while Warner Pacific returns home to play cross-town rival, Concordia, in a 7 p.m. evening match-up to conclude their season.
