Janel Porter had three aces in Lady Yotes win
CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho used 12 team blocks to win their 59th-straight home Cascade Conference match, sweeping Northwest Christian, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The No. 7 ranked Lady Yotes (16-1, 11-0 CCC) won their 13th-straight match and extended their overall home win streak to 38 in a row.
The Beacons (9-10, 4-7) stayed close early in Set 1, trailing just 11-8 after an Emily Miller spike. However, a trio of Kylee Nawahine kills fueled a 7-2 spurt to give the hosts the opening win. Set 2 was similar, as a Chelsea McGowan kills cut The C of I lead to 10-9, but the Yotes used four different combo blocks in an 11-2 run to grab the period. Set 3 was all Coyotes, as Janel Porter had a pair of aces and a pair of Hulsey/Madison Curtis blocks helped The C of I to a 13-3 lead, with the squad never threatened.
Nawahine had nine kills and eight digs, Liz Myers had seven kills, and Curtis added five kills and five blocks in the victory. Kelsey Soos recorded her second double-double of the season with 24 assists and 10 digs, with Whitney Brigham leading all players with 17 digs.
NCU got six kills each from Maren Mansfield and McGowan, with Janel Fetters adding five kills. Setter Cori Wallace had a team-high 21 assists and nine digs, with libero Dana Clark recording 16 digs.
The Lady Yotes return to action next weekend with road matches at Evergreen State and Northwest.
