For the third time in her last four games, senior Katie Steigleman scored 20-or-more points in Corban's non-conference game against Lewis & Clark.
Steigleman-Led Corban Falls to Ranked Pios

PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Katie Steigleman scored a team and game-high 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field, but Corban's women's basketball team fell to nationally-ranked Lewis & Clark, 79-65, Monday inside the Pamplin Sports Center.
For the fourth straight game, Steigleman led the Warriors in scoring to go along with double-digit performances by juniors Tess Bennett and Emily Tsugawa with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Tsugawa would register a double-double that included a game-high 10 assists, while Steigleman and freshman Tara Vanweerdhuizen pulled down a team and game-high seven rebounds each.
Over the opening four minutes, Corban jumped out to a six-point lead (9-3) on a three-pointer by senior Becky Buhler with 16:09 remaining. Lewis & Clark would rebound thanks to a 9-0 run over a span of three-plus minutes to register a three-point lead (12-9) on a fast break lay-in by Kristina Williams with 12:49 on the clock. Over the next seven minutes, Lewis & Clark would hold leads of five (18-13) and six (23-17) points before Corban climbed back into the game earning a two-point lead (35-33) at halftime on a lay-in by Tsugawa in the final seconds.
The two teams would trade leads over the opening three-plus minutes of the second half until Lewis & Clark clung to a slim one-point advantage (40-39) thanks to a jumper in the paint by Sara Villanueva with 16:45 left in the game. Lewis & Clark would never relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game, as Corban pulled back to within a single point (65-64) on back-to-back free throws by Steigleman with just under five minutes remaining. Unfortunately, Lewis & Clark would use a 14-0 run over a span of four-plus minutes en route to earning a 15-point lead (79-64) with 16 ticks left. A free throw by Bennett with nine seconds left would close out the game's scoring, as the host Pioneers earned their fifth straight win to open the season by the final score of 79-65.
Lewis & Clark had four starters score in double figures led by Megan Spence with 18 points, while Williams, Villanueva, and Neva Hauser added 17, 17, and 10 points respectively. On the boards, Margaret Dowling and Tayler Wang pulled down a team-high six rebounds each to go along with a six-assist performance by Villanueva.
As a team, Corban shot a combined 27-for-59 (45.8%) from the field to go along with a 6-for-22 (27.3%) showing from beyond the three-point line and a 5-for-6 (83.3%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Lewis & Clark was 27-for-66 (40.9%) from the field, 6-for-16 (37.5%) from long distance, and 19-for-23 (82.6%) at the charity stripe.
With tonight's result, Corban falls to 4-3 on the season and Lewis & Clark remains perfect at 5-0. The Warriors will return to action on Friday, December 2nd, against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech in the opening game of Cascade Collegiate Conference play for both teams beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Danny Miles Court in Klamath Falls.
