NU Just Misses Century Mark in Victory
KIRKLAND, Wash. - The Northwest University Eagles improved their record to 4-0 against Canadian opponents as they ran away from Quest University (B.C.), 98-37 tonight in a non-league contest.
Northwest (4-0) held the Kermodes from Squamish, B.C. to 12 first half points sprinting out to a 47-12 lead by the end of the first half as a Quest 3-pointer with 30 seconds to go put them into double figures after 20 minutes of play. NU's defense held QU to 15% shooting in the first half and 22.6% for the game.
Northwest had five players ini double figures, led by senior Jason Waltman's 17 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Michael Greene scored 15 points, and Ahmaad Cook score 10 points. Rich Skillman and Williwu Siefa each scord 11 points for the Eagles who shot 52% (38-73) on the night. NU won the rebound battle, 52-31 including 17 offensive boards.
Leading scorer for Quest U. was Gurminder Kang finishing with 9 points. Connor Heinrichs added 8 points and 6 rebounds for QU.
"It was a great team effort," said John Van Dyke, Eagle head coach. "I really liked how the guys genuinely supported each other. This is a fun group to coach."
Northwest will now travel to Walla Walla for two games against Walla Walla University on Nov. 11 and 12.
