Oregon Tech Holds Off Johnson & Wales

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Six Owls finished in double-figures, as fifth-rated Oregon Tech held off a Johnson & Wales comeback bid winning 102-89 tonight at Danny Miles Court in non-conference basketball action. 

The Hustlin’ Owls ran their record home win streak to 65 in a row on what was the last game ever played on Oregon Tech’s 43-year-old playing surface. Demolition begins tonight with the new floor in by Christmas.

Oregon Tech, defeating Johnson & Wales on consecutive nights, moves to 12-1 on the season.

For the second straight night Tech’s Kyle Gomez led the Owls in scoring, tonight with 27 points on 10-of-13 from the floor. Gomez added six rebounds, two assists and five steals. Jason Gamblin came away with 19 points, while Bobby Hunter followed with 18 points and five rebounds. Bryant Sentman recorded 13 points, while David Clarke and Scotty Riddle added 10 each in the win for the Owls.

JWU’s Jake Campbell led all scoring with 31 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Kahler Grandbouche added 14 points with Eric Gardzina 12 points and Geoffry Todd 11 in the loss.

Oregon Tech will resume Cascade Conference action this Friday at College of Idaho and Saturday versus Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.
