EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women’s basketball team failed to pick up their first CCC victory of the season on Tuesday and in turn handing Evergreen their first as the Geoducks won, 67-62. 

Northwest Christian University led by five points at halftime, 37-32, but was plagued by 24% shooting after the break while Evergreen went 13-for-25 for 52%. The Beacons also suffered on the glass for the second straight night. Evergreen State out-rebounded NCU 51-31, including 22 offensive boards as they scored 17 second-chance points.

Evergreen (3-9, 1-2 CCC) was led by Sadee Jones, scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Danielle Swain added 14 points, nine rebounds and led the team with six assists and three blocks. Jessica Edge also scored 14 for the Geoducks, hitting a pair of three-pointers.

Northwest Christian (8-8, 0-4) was led in defeat by junior Guards Katie Collins and Kelsey Atkins, each scoring 16 points. Collins was 5-for-7 from the field while Atkins shot 4-for-5, all from three-point range. Atkins hit her first three attempts from beyond the arch, closing out a school record with ten consecutive three-pointers. Jess Anderson added eleven points while Aly Bruns, who was held off the scoreboard, led the team with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Northwest Christian will return to action on December 30th when they travel to Salem for a rivalry match-up with Corban University. Evergreen will be home for #9 Eastern Oregon on December 29th. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 pm tip-offs.
