CLACKAMAS, Ore.—In a pair of relief appearances, freshman Ally Gunter notched both Concordia wins as the Cavaliers defeated Whitworth 7-3 in the morning game and came back from a 6-1 deficit to defeat Lewis & Clark 7-6 in the afternoon game at the Northwest Cup held at Hood View Park on Saturday.
Concordia improved to 5-3 on the season and will finish the three-day tournament against Puget Sound (11 a.m.) and Willamette (3p.m.) on Sunday.

The Cavaliers plated three runners in the third inning with Camy Way generating an RBI via a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and was followed by an RBI single from Mallory Callahan as CU batted around to take the early lead.
The Cavs came back to score a single run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth en route to scoring seven runs on eight hits. Way responded with an RBI single to give CU a 4-0 lead in the fourth while Kayla Vickaryous pushed Callahan home in the fifth with an infield single in the fifth. Amy Aicher proved the final offensive punch with a double to left which allowed Ali Paz to score from second in the sixth.
Whitworth managed to cut the CU lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth by the aid of four walks and a CU error. Another Cavalier error provided the Pirates’ final score in the bottom of the sixth.
Renee Santos started for the Cavs and tallied nine strikeouts in just 3.2 innings of work but was hampered by seven walks despite not allowing a hit. Gunter hurled the final 3.1 innings and collected the win with four strikeouts against five hits and just one unearned run.
Emily Anderson started the game for Whitworth and took the loss after being charged with seven runs, five of which were earned.  Concordia outhit the Pirates 8 to 5.

After trailing the Pioneers 6-1 after two innings, Gunter sparked the Cavaliers at the plate and in the pitching circle to lead CU to a 7-6 win in the team’s nightcap. Gunter scored four of the teams seven runs after going 4 for 4 at the plate and pitched the final 5.2 innings to earn her second win of the day.
After an opening out to third to start the game, the Pioneers belted five straight hits, including a two-run homer to left by Caroline DeVincenzi to go up by three runs in the top of the first. The Cavs got one run back with four singles in their first five at bats, capped by an RBI shot by Aicher, to open the home half of the first and cut the lead to 3-1, but L&C returned with another three-spot in the second inning to take a commanding 6-1 advantage.
Jet’Aime Mullins provided the biggest boost for the Pioneers in the second stanza with a two-run single to center to score Jamie Moon and Devincenzi.
The runs represented the final times the visiting side would cross the plate as Gunter held the Pios to two hits and two walks while striking out five to close out the contest.
Meanwhile at the plate, Concordia pulled to within three in the third with a two-run double by Laura Thorp and quickly square the match at 6-6 in the fourth inning with key RBI hits from Way and Aicher.
Paz finalized the CU comeback with a double to center which scored the speedy Gunter from first. Returning to the pitcher’s circle, Gunter hurdled a 1-2-3 seventh with a strikeout and a pair of infield pop ups to claim the win.
