ASHLAND, ORE. -- The Concordia softball team pushed its win streak to eight with a doubleheader sweep of Southern Oregon today at University Field. The Cavs came-from-behind to win the opener 8-6 and then scored a 6-0 victory in the nightcap.

Concordia is now 16-10 overall and 9-5 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 10-15 overall and 7-7 in conference. The Raiders host 21st-ranked Oregon Tech Tuesday at University Field.

In the opener, Southern Oregon pushed across an early run for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Concordia came back in the third to tie it at 1-1 and after the Raiders took a 2-1 lead, the Cavs battled back again and tied it at 2-2 in the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Raiders tried to blow the game wide open. Rayna Okimoto and Jordyn Kurtz started the inning off with a single and double to help the Raiders score four runs for a 6-2 lead.

Concordia came back in a big way in the sixth as a double by Kayla Vickaryous and back-to-back errors kick started an inning that resulted in five runs and a 7-6 Concordia lead.

In the seventh, Samie Genskay singled home a run to give the Cavs the winning margin.

Genskay and Ali Paz both had three hits for the Concordia offense and Jordyn Brown pitched the final three innings to pick up the victory.

Okimoto went 3-for-3 for the Raiders and Irene Barrantes had a pair of hits.

The two teams combined for nine errors in the first game.

In the nightcap, Paz tripled in the first to score Genskay for a 1-0 Concordia lead.

Concordia then added five runs in the third inning, helped by five straight hits by Cameron Way, Robin Gawlista, Amy Aicher, Kyndell Andrews and Brown.

The Raiders loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Brown forced a double play to end the game.

Genskay, Aicher and Andrews all had three hits for the Cavs in the second game.

Melissa Corn, Barrantes, Sarah Wharton, Emily Matekel and Julia Willison had the hits for the Raiders.
