CALDWELL, Idaho - Riding a 25-2 edge in total shots, The College of Idaho opened up their home season at Simplot Stadium with a dominating 3-0 victory over Trinity Lutheran.

The Lady Yotes (2-0) have opened the season with two wins - the fourth-straight season they have achieved the feat, also improving to 2-0 all-time against the NCCAA Eagles (1-4-1).

It didn't take long for The C of I to get on the board, as Chelsea Heffer played a ball from the left side into the middle of the box, finding Jessica Ayala, who used a shoulder fake to get space, cracking a shot to the left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. Late in the period, Ayala found Kelly Hardegree-Ullman in the box, flicking the ball inside the 6 to the right-corner of the net.

The Yotes had multiple chances to extend the lead - as Natasha Rooney clanged a ball off the left post in the 43rd minute, Heffner hit the crossbar in the 47th minute, and Macy Egerman rocketed a shot off the crossbar in the 65th minute, before Kayla Bigelow played a long free kick into the box, with Egerman volleying a shot into the net to cap the scoring. Eagles' keeper Kaylin Wilson made seven saves, including five at point-blank range to keep the score tight.

The C of I defense did not allow a TLC shot in the first half, with Aimee Pierson and Melissa Holmes-Joseph combining for the Yotes first shutout of the season.

The Coyotes return to action on Saturday, hosting Division II power Cal Baptist, at 11 a.m.
