EUGENE, Ore. – The Evergreen State College held Northwest Christian University without a shot-on-goal on Wednesday night, capturing a 3-0 victory in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. With the win, the Geoducks move to 24 points, sitting just three points behind CCC-leading Concordia University.
The Geoducks (8-5, 8-2 CCC) outshot the Beacons 14-10 on the night while NCU held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Evergreen got on the board in the 36th minute with the eventual game winner as Mirza Memic worked his way around two defenders and shot the ball into the left side of the net. The Geoducks took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Jeff Roland (pictured) took over as the junior midfielder scored a pair of insurance goals. The first, in the 59th minute was a missile off a pass from Kevin Flavin across the box. Eight minutes later a cross from Memic set up Roland for the ten-yard strike.
Northwest Christian (3-9-2, 1-7-2) was led by Chris Longi, who took three shot attempts. Erik Carrazco picked up three saves in the loss.
NCU returns to action on Saturday as they play host to Northwest University at 7:00 pm. Evergreen travels to face Corban University that afternoon at 3:00 pm.
