(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) --  Evergreen State got two second half goals to slip past upset minded Oregon Tech 2-0 in Cascade Conference play Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field. Oregon Tech slips to 1-13-1 on the season and 1-10-0 in CCC play with the loss. Evergreen State improves to 11-5-0 and 11-2-0 in CCC play with the win.

After a scoreless first half, the Geoducks got the eventual game winner just 40 seconds into the second stanza as Ethan Sumlin got behind the Oregon Tech defense and took a shot from 10 yards out that deflected off Oregon Tech Keeper Loren Jessen. Sumlin then beat Jessen to the rebound and scored from 3 yards out, giving Evergreen State the 1-0 lead.

Jessen would have a busy day between the pipes for Tech as he gathered in 9 saves on the day facing a total of 19 shots.

The teams would battle back and forth the rest of the half with OIT pulling Jessen out of the box with 30 seconds left to play trying to get the equalizer. Evergreen State took advantage of the empty net, as with just 1 second left Willie Spurr let one fly from near the 50 yard line, scoring as the final buzzer rang, giving the Geoducks the 2-0 win.

For the game, Evergreen State outshot Oregon Tech 19-12, and held an 11-4 advantage in shot on goal.

Six Yellow Cards were issued in the game, 3 to each team with both teams also picking up 13 fouls on the day.

Oregon Tech will wrap up the 2012 season playing two games at College of Idaho on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 in Caldwell, Idaho.  Both games are slated for 12:00 pm (PST). Evergreen State will next host Northwest University Saturday, November 3 in Olympia, Wa.
