NU Second Half Goals Down Corban
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University scored two second half goals for a come from behind, 2-1, victory over Corban University this afternoon in Cascade Conference play under warm, sunny skies.
Arsinio Walker gave Corban the 1-0 lead as he rebounded his own shot and scored from 3 yards out in the 27
th minute. His score would stand the remainder of the half as Corban’s defense would keep Northwest scoreless in their 5 shot attempts.
Northwest scored the equalizer in little over a minute in the second half as Mackenzie Samuelsen headed in his shot from 6 yards out off a corner kick by teammate Carlos Portillo. Do-Hee Kim got the game winner less than 2 minutes later as he knocked in his right footer from 6 yards out as Nickey Rick’s header came off the left post. Corban would not go down easily as they pressed and forced NU goalkeeper Joe Galbraith to make 7 second half saves off 17 Warrior shots. Tyler Hagen’s shot at the 73:25 mark just missed as the ball would go just wide of the goal.
Corban dominated the shot column with 27 to Northwest’s 11. Joe Galbraith had a busy day in goal for NU as he was credited for 10 saves. Corban goalie, Steven Mason had 5 saves in goal for Corban. Derek Chaney had 5 shots, 2 shots on goal for the Warriors and Mackenzie Samuelsen had 4 shots, 3 shots on goal for Northwest U. NU held the edge in corner kicks with 6 to Corban’s 3.

Good to see them working for each other and playing quality soccer at the same time. I felt like our defense and keeper did a good job on the back line allowing the offense time to get us the goals needed to win.”
