CALDWELL, Idaho – Taylor Pruett scored 22 points – one of five College of Idaho players in double figures, as the Coyotes picked up their first Cascade Conference victory of the season, defeating Concordia University, 78-67, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Trailing 37-29 at the break, the Cavaliers (2-5, 0-2 CCC) got within 53-49 on a Justyn Searle put back with 10 minutes remaining, but three’s from Miguel Rodriguez and Pruett fueled a 10-2 run by the Yotes – as CU never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

Rodriguez scored a career-high 14 points in the win, with Sydney Donaldson adding 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Antonio Garrett had a career-high 12 points and six rebounds, with Ben Van Lith scoring 10 points. The Yotes (4-6, 1-1) won the game at the foul line, hitting 8-of-12 in the second half.

Adam Herman, the CCC’s leading scorer, had a game-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, but CU connected on 4-of-24 shots from outside the arc and committed 18 turnovers. Willy Ligon added 16 points for the Cavs.

The Coyotes return to action on Tuesday, meeting Northwest Nazarene in an exhibition game in Nampa in the second United Heritage Insurance Mayors’ Cup contest.
