PORTLAND, Ore.— Five different Cavaliers scored goals as No. 4-ranked Concordia defeated College of Idaho 5-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action at Tuominen Yard on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Concordia improved to 8-1-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in CCC play. The Coyotes fell to 3-6-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league contests. Concordia will resume action on Oct. 12 when it stays in Portland to play at Warner Pacific College. College of Idaho will play their first regular-season home match when it hosts Oregon Tech on Oct. 10.

Concordia opened its scoring in the 26th minute as Erin Huisingh (Pasco, Wash./Chiawana H.S.), fresh off a misses scoring opportunity moments earlier, took a long solo run on the left side before sliding a low 14-yard shot past C of I goalkeeper Melissa Holmes-Joseph.

Six minutes later, the Cavaliers doubled their advantage with a cross from near the endline on the right-side of the pitch from Alicia Kolter (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union H.S.) which found freshman Maddie Aldrich (Spokane, Wash./Mead H.S.) for a successful six-yard shot

Held to just one shot attempt for most of the first half, the Yotes broke a 376-minute shutout streak by the Cavaliers with an accurate penalty kick from Allie Boyd in the 40th minute of play. C of I earned the kick after a late tackle inside the box by a Concordia defender. The goal was the first scored against Concordia via a penalty kick since the 2011 season.

Just before the end of the half, Kolter regained the two-goal CU advantage with a slight touch after collecting a Morgan Rooney (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills H.S.) pass at the 42:49 mark. Kolter managed to toe the ball forward to send the ball just beneath Holmes-Joseph.

Ariel Kanable (Beaverton, Ore./Southridge H.S.) and Hannah Kimsey (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River H.S.) added second-half goals for the Cavs to provide the final four-goal spread. Kimsey assisted Kanable before landing a goal of her own off a set-piece with short feeds by Shannon McMahon (Lake Forest Park, Wash./Bishop Blanchet H.S.) and Huisingh.

"This is exactly what we want. We have a lot of depth in our attacking areas and we scored some quality and intelligent goals today," CU head coach Grant Landy said.

The Cavaliers completed the match with a 20 to 2 shot advantage and a 7 to 0 edge in corner kicks. Nicole Franklin (Hillsboro, Ore./Century H.S.) picked up the win after recording one save in the complete-game performance.

"Nicole got tested at times and she did her job out there. Her communication was good and she repelled some dangerous crosses," Landy said. "Overall, our effort was better today than on Thursday and we will just want to continue making that progress as we head deeper into a tough conference season."
