Knights Snap Three Game Slide at New Hope
EUGENE, Ore. - The Warner Pacific women's basketball team broke a three game slide with a 80-61 non-conference win at New Hope Christian on Friday night.
The scoring output was a season high as the Knights (4-7) found their scoring touch and took advantage of opportunities at the free throw line. The host Deacons fell to 2-9 on the season and dropped their second game to WPC in as many tries this year.
The Knights jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game, only to see NHCC come back to tie the game at 9-9. WP used a 10-0 run at that point to break the game open, and when
Janelle Weiss knocked in a 50 foot heave at the half-time buzzer the Knights went to the locker room leading 48-31.
Warner Paicific continued to control the action in the second period, eventually leading by as many as 30 points. New Hope staged a rally late in the game behind the inside scoring of Lea Lolohea, but too late to threaten the outcome.
Ali Campbell led the Knights with 15 points, 13 of which came in the first half.
Janelle Weiss and
Jordan Wilcox added 14 points each, including four three pointers from both guards.
Jacki Cannon also tossed in 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
New Hope was paced by Taya Habrick with a game high 16 points, while Lolohea collected 13 points and 13 rebounds.
COMING UP: WPC heads to Seattle Pacific on Saturday for an exhibition matchup at 7pm.
