PORTLAND, Ore. – The Concordia University volleyball team extended its win streak to eight matches with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) sweep of Northwest Christian University.

With the win, Concordia (10-2) moved to 4-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play with all four wins coming via a sweep and snapped Northwest Christians' seven-game win streak as they move to 3-1 in CCC play and 8-3 overall.

The eight straight wins is a career best for fifth-year head coach Melanie Hambelton.

With both teams putting their conference unbeaten streaks on the line, neither team could gain an early advantage as they battled neck-to-neck for most of the first set. CU would eventually close out the opening win with a 6-4 run as kills by Melanie Miller (Hillsboro, Ore./Liberty H.S.) provide the final two points for the Cavs.

Preventing the Beacons from evening the match, Concordia never trailed in the second set en route to a 25-15 victory.

The third set featured seven ties, the final with the score 9-9 before NCU snared three straight points to take their largest lead of the match. Concordia, however, tallied four straight points to come from behind and go up 14-13 before eventually closing out the game with a 9-3 run for a 25-19 victory.

The Cavs committed just 14 errors in the match compared to 27 for the Beacons. Overall Concordia hit for a .184 attack percentage while Northwest Christian ended the night at .000. Jackie Stein (Portland, Ore./Westview H.S.) led the Cavaliers with nine kills, one more than teammate Amanda Goringe (Aloha, Ore./Aloha H.S.), who dominated the net with eight block assists in addition to a solo slam.

NCU's Maren Mansfield shared the match lead with Stein with nine kills on 39 attacks.

Concordia continues CCC play as it heads to Southern Oregon for a matchup on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. Northwest Christian will return home for a non-conference match against New Hope Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
