PORTLAND, Ore.—Avenging one of its earlier losses, the Concordia women's basketball team defeated New Hope Christian 71-54 at home on Friday night.

Snapping a six-game losing streak, Concordia improved to 4-17 on the season and will return to action on Saturday by hosting Warner Pacific College in a return to Cascade Collegiate Conference action. The Cavaliers defeated WPC 63-56 on Dec. 21 in the previous matchup of the two Portland institutions.

With Jess Logan and Dorian Perkey hitting early shots, the Deacons started strong on CU's court by taking an 8-4 lead in the opening minutes.

A Caitlyn McCutcheon (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) layup tied the game at 8-8 at the 16:28 to set up several minutes of back and forth basketball. Still tied with 12:40 left, this time at 14-14 on a McCutcheon free throw, the Cavs strung together a 20-5 run over the next 10 minutes of action to setup a 34-21 advantage at the break.

The Cavs applied even more pressure in the second half, with Kelly Huey (San Francisco, Calif./Lincoln H.S.) stealing the initial inbounds play and driving towards the basket for a pair of free throw opportunities where the senior drained both chances for a 15-point lead.

Concordia extended its lead to as many as 24 points following a McCutcheon putback with 13:35 to play.
Hitting 4 of 5 from 3-point range, Huey provided the biggest scoring output for the Cavs with 19 points. McKenna Daly (Livermore, Calif./Granada H.S.) tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds for her second 'double-double' of the season while

McCutcheon finished the night with nine points and a game-high 14 rebouns.

Logan and Perkey led New Hope with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Lei Lolohea had a good night on both ends of the court with 16 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
