KIRKLAND, Wash. - Northwest University scored a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-21) sweep of Warner Pacific in Cascade Conference play tonight. Playing efficiently tonight, the Eagles hit .323 as a team for the match.
 
Northwest U took an early 11-5 lead after two Warner Pacific attack errors and a service ace by the Eagle’s Leia Roy. Three straight kills by Warner Pacific and the Knights closed the gap to 12-11. NU answered with 4 straight points including kills by Amanda Waterman, Hannah Hanson and Dakota Adams to stretch the led to 16-11. Northwest U would slowly pull away at the end of the set capped off by senior Rae Ann Haistings’ kill.
 
In Set two, WPC stayed within a point or two of NU until the Eagles rattled off 5 straight points to open up their lead to 15-8. Warner Pacific would not get any closer as Northwest would maintain the lead the remainder of the set to go up 2-0.
 
Warner Pacific refused to give in and the 3rd set proved to be the tightest of the match.
 
Dakota Adams led Northwest U (10-13, 3-9 CCC) with 12 kills and a .500 hitting average. Rae Ann Haistings added 9 kills and a .429 hitting average. Brooke Riddle had a match high 23 assists and Leia Roy led both teams with 20 digs on the night while serving up three aces.
 
Warner Pacific (5-12, 3-9) was led by Janessa White's 10 kills. Marchelle Bostic had 16 assists and Kelsey Merritt added 13 defensive digs for the Knights. WPC broke an 11-11 tie to lead 15-13 after Devan Belshe’s service ace. NU would battle back to regain the lead for good at 19-17 as Dakota Adams would get her match high 12th kill to end the set and match.
 
Both teams continue play tomorrow as Northwest U hosts Concordia and Warner Pacific will take on Evergreen in Olympia.
