PORTLAND, Ore.—
In a battle of teams that made the final cut at last year's NAIA Women's Golf National Championships, the University of British Columbia snared a 39-stroke win over the University of Victoria at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Concordia University at Rose City Golf Club on Tuesday.

British Columbia (306-306-315—927), the No. 7 finishers at the 2014 national championships, posted its highest team score of the three-round event on Tuesday, but easily held on for the wire-to-wore win.

Victoria (320-336-310—966), the No. 16 team from a year ago, placed second overall while the host Cavaliers from Concordia (332-335-320—987) took third place.

With the result, the Cavaliers also won their 16th straight Cascade Collegiate Conference event as College of Idaho (349-347-354—1,050) finished in fourth place as the closest challenger amongst conference schools.

The CCC season will resume on March 9-10, 2014 at the Corban Invitational held at Creekside Country Club in Salem, Ore. The Corban event will represent the third of four regular-season tournament before the CCC Championships which will be held on April 210-21, 2015 at Portland's Pumpkin Ridge.

Wining by three strokes, Victoria's Brianna Carrols (74-79-74—227) used a 1-over 74 on Tuesday to leap over a pair of UBC golfers for the individual championship. Carrols entered the final day in third place behind the Thunderbird duo of Kat Kennedy (75-74-80—229) and Winnie Hyun (76-76-79—231).

UBC individuals went on to place 2-3-4-5-6-7 in the 39-person field. Finishing in ninth place, Corban's Brooke Spencer (77-78-99—243) broke the string of Canadians to lead all players from CCC squads, one swing ahead of Concordia's Abby Brennan (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon H.S.) (80-85-79—244).

College of Idaho's Lexi Oropeza (83-82-82—247) used back-to-back 8-over 82s to finish in 12th place while Concordia's Kelsey Whiles (Hockinson, Wash./Hockinson H.S.) (81-82-85—248), Lynsie Furuya (Honolulu, Hawaii/Leilehua H.S.) (87-83-79—249) and Holly Winburn (Boise, Idaho/Capital H.S.) (86-85-80—251) landed the next three positions. Four of Concordia's five individuals scored their best round on Tuesday despite playing its sixth round of competition in four days.

Finishing in 19th place, Scotti Jo Helmick (89-82-87—258) led Warner Pacific while Janelle Ferlan (83-86-90—259) took 20th place to pace the tem from Oregon Tech.
