9-0 marks the best start in program history

CALDWELL, Idaho – Three Coyotes (9-0) recorded double-doubles as the No.7 College of Idaho knocked off Montana State-Northern 72-50 inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center to close out the 2014 Wendy's Classic.

Marko Kovacevic scored 20 points and pulled down 20 rebounds becoming the first Yote to notch a 20/20 game since Craig McGee did so during the 2010 season against Corban University.

"The last player I had the privilege of being on staff when a 20/20 was recorded was a guy named Kevin Love. That's some pretty good company to be part of," head coach Scott Garson said. "Marko is continuing to improve every time he plays; people forget he hasn't played a lot in two years due to a redshirt year and wrist injury last season."

Jermaine Graves canned a three-pointer with 14:22 left in the game, as the Lights (7-3) grabbed their final lead of the night, a 36-35 advantage.

A pair of Josh Wilson free-throws gave the Yotes the lead and they never looked back. C of I closed the game out on an 18-2 run including a six-minute stretch to end the game upon which they did not allow a made field-goal.

Joey Nebeker achieved his second double-double on the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 boards, including three steals in the win.

Josh Wilson logged his first double-double this season, scoring 10 points and pulling down another 10 rebounds.

Corbin Pearson was the only Light to reach double-figures, scoring 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting in 31-minutes in the loss.

With the win, the 2014-15 squad accomplished something no team before them has been able to; stay perfect through the first nine-games of the season.

"Anytime you're in the same company with a Marty Holly coached team, that's a special honor," Garson said. "We just want to continue to improve each and every day as a team. This coming week will be very difficult playing three games in six days against excellent competition."

C of I will put their unblemished record on the line Monday night when they play the second chapter of the United Heritage Mayors' Cup in Nampa against crosstown rival, Northwest Nazarene at 7:05 p.m.
