Warner Pacific Outlasts OIT in Overtime
PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific outscored visiting Oregon Tech 10-2 in overtime, sending the Knights to a 73-65 win inside C.C. Perry Gym tonight in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams.
The Basics

• The Short Story: It was a typical battle between the Knights and Owls tonight in Portland, with Warner Pacific coming away with the narrow overtime victory. Doug Thomas shook off a rough shooting night and scored five points in the the extra period, including a long three pointer to give WP a 70-65 lead. Oregon Tech hit just one of nine shot attempts in overtime and just 37 percent of their field goal tries overall for the game.
How it Happened
• Oregon Tech held the advantage for most of the first half, eventually leading by by as many as nine points (23-14).
• The Knights responded with a 9-0 run and tied the game at the 5:07 mark on a free throw from Tim Carter.
• Austin Flint put the Owls back in front with a trio of three pointers, and OIT headed to the locker room with a 32-29 lead.
• The Owls continued to dictate play in the second half, and again built a nine point gap (50-43) over the first seven minutes of action.
• Warner Pacific slowly climbed back into the game, and Keaton Bankofier tied the game once more with a trey with 5:40 to play.
• Coletun Tarr drained a three pointer to make the score 63-60 in favor of the Knights with :32 on the clock, but OIT's Kyle Waits was fouled on a putback bucket and sent the game to overtime with a made free throw.
• The extra period was all WPC, as the Knight defense held the Owls to a single basket from Sherman Simpson.
Notable
• Lavar Moore scored a game high 24 points for OIT.
• Laron Daniels hit six of seven from the floor and added three steals for WPC.
