• The Short Story: Oregon Tech leaped ahead of the Knights in the CCC standings with a 3-0 victory at C.C. Perry Gym. Renee Baumann swung for 18 kills versus just three errors to lead the Owls. The Knights put up a fight in set one but lost the plot in sets two and three to drop their thrid straight match.
How It Happened
• The Knights looked sharp early and led set one 7-4 after a 4-0 run.
• WP led 21-19 late in the frame, only to see the Owls run off five straight points to help claim the win.
• The Owls controlled the second set from the first serve and built an insurmaountable 10-2 lead.
• The closest score the rest of the way that WPC could manage was 18-13 thanks to a 7-2 run.
• Warner Pacific had designs on extending the match by forging a 14-10 lead in set three.
Devan Belshe and
Janessa White put down three kills each in the frame.
• Baumann came alive at that point and carried the Owls to the win with five kills down the stretch.
Notable
• Kelsey Sampson added 11 kills and a match high 16 digs for OIT.
• White finished with a team high 10 kills for the Knights.
• WPC did not have a block for the first time this season.
