PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific battled Corban to a stalemate in the first half, but the visiting Warriors imposed their will in the second on the way to a 72-56 win over the Knights in CCC action tonight.  

The Basics

 Score: Corban 72, Warner Pacific 56
 Records: CRB (10-8, 4-2 CCC), WPC (8-11, 1-5 CCC)
 Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
 The Short Story: Warner Pacific stayed within shouting distance of visiting Corban for 30 minutes, but surrendered too many easy baskets down the stretch in a home Cascade Conference loss. The visiting Warriors outscored WPC 23-12 in the last 10 minutes of the game and built a lead that reached as many as 18 points. Jade Lowery scored from inside and out on the way to a game high 21 points for Corban, one of four Warriors in double figures. The Knights were led by Daesha Jackson's 12 points.  

How it Happened

• The Warriors came out strong, building a 9-4 lead in the early action.
• The lead was short lived, as Kasara Brandenburg tied the game at 9-9 with a score from the painted area.
• The teams traded buckets for most of the first half, as the score was tied four times - the last time at 22-22 with 7:24 on the clock.
• Danielle Vanderstoel put Corban ahead by four points with 3:17 to play, then neither team scored again for the rest of the period.
• The Knights were determined to grind out a win as the second period started, and managed to tie the game two more times.    
• Kyeli Hendryx put WPC in front for the last time at the 15:26 mark with a mid-range jumper.
Corban began to wear the Knights down at that point with the one-two punch of Lowery and Tara Van Weerdhuizen.
• Van Weerdhuizen scored at the rim to give Corban their largest lead (67-49) with 2:35 to play, effectively sealing the game for the visitors.

Notable

• Van Weerdhuizen finished with 17 points and four blocked shots.
• Lindsay Loe scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
