College of Idaho Sweeps by Oregon Tech
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Taking early leads in every set, College of Idaho pulled away from Oregon Tech and swept the Owls 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-15) tonight in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech fell to 13-10 on the season and 8-9 in CCC play. C of I moved to 15-3 in league play and 17-9 overall.
Jackie Van Vliet and Randi Sturtz kills early in the opener led to a 5-1 C of I advantage, eventually moving ahead of Tech 15-7.
A pair of kills by Alexa Burdett and Mykala Rubey drew the Owls to within two, 16-14. That was as close as the home team would get, as the Yotes moved up 1-0 after the 25-20 win in set 1.
C of I led 15-10 in set 2, only to see the Owls again pull to 16-14 on scores from Kristin DePaoli and Bailey Nelson. C of I again turned it on from that point using a pair of Kylie Porter spikes and one from Van Vliet to move up 2-0 after the 25-19 win.
Tied 3-all in set 3, a 7-0 C of I run led to a 10-3 deficit for the Owls. A 9-4 run by Tech, including three kills by freshman outside hitter Bailey Nelson, pulled Tech to within two, 14-12.
C of I, however, would score 11 of the next 14 points to win 25-15 and sweep tonight’s CCC contest.
Bailey Nelson led the Owls with six kills, followed by five from Kristin DePaoli. Tori Porter and Waverly Green combined for 22 assists with Brooke Molloy recording a match high 17 digs.
C of I got a match-high 12 kills from Kylie Porter, while Randi Sturtz and Abbey Fenton added eight each in the win. Sierra Porter tallied 41 assists with Kilee Lopez finishing with 12 digs.
Oregon Tech will host No. 10 Eastern Oregon University on Saturday at 5 p.m. C of I travels to Ashland and will face Southern Oregon University.
