LeVeque Scores Career-High 33 to Lead Owls over Corban
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Karly LeVeque recorded a career-high 33 points and Oregon Tech battled back from a double-digit deficit to escape Corban University, 87-77, this afternoon in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball action at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech improved to 2-0 in CCC play and 8-3 overall. Corban fell to 0-2 in the conference standings and 4-6 on the season.
Oregon Tech drained five 3-pointers to open the game on the way to a 15-10 lead. Jade Lowery drilled her third-straight triple of the first quarter, giving the Warriors a 16-15 advantage with 2:40 on the clock. Tech’s Bailey Nelson notched a pair of free throws to close out the period with the Owls clinging to a 23-22 lead.
The second quarter saw Corban outscore Tech 23-11, including 10 points from Jade Lowery and seven by Julia Young, on the way to an 11 point margin, their largest of the half, 45-34.
Karly LeVeque capped a 7-3 run with a score to cut Tech’s deficit 48-41 at the break.
Carly McIsaac scored four points to open the third quarter for the Owls, while LeVeque added six more, including the go-ahead free throws, giving the home team a 59-58 lead with 1:30 on the clock.
Corban would regain their advantage on a Sadie Pilgeram layup and ensuing freebie with the Warriors hanging on to a 64-61 lead heading into the final stanza.
A 9-0 run, including an Ashleigh Vandenbrink layup to cap the scoring, gave the Owls an eight point cushion, 72-64.
CU got to within five points on three occasions, but Owls would hang on for the 87-77 victory.
Karly LeVeque finished 10-of-20 from the field and 11-for-13 at the charity stripe leading all scorers with 33 points. LeVeque added five rebounds and four assists in the win. Morgan Roberts tallied 14 points followed by Ashleigh Vandenbrink with 11.
Jade Lowery led CU with a team-high 29 points with Sadie Pilgeram adding 21 in the loss for the Warriors. Julia Young finished with 11 points and Pilgeram seven rebounds.
Next up the Owls travel to Washington to face Northwest University and Evergreen State on December 19 and 20.
