Oregon Tech Cruises by Multnomah in Straight Sets

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech used a .228 hitting clip and cruised by Multnomah University 3-0, (25-21, 25-9, 25-12) in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action tonight at Danny Miles Court.
 
Oregon Tech ran their overall mark to 9-3 and sit at 4-2 in CCC play.  Multnomah, meanwhile, remains winless on the season at 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the conference standings.
 
A sluggish start by the home team saw Multnomah work their way out to an 11-7 advantage in the opening set.
 
Still down by two, 15-17, the Owls used a pair of Bailey Nelson kills, and one by Whitney Webster, with Waverly Green adding an ace to put Tech up 20-17.  Tech would win the opener, 25-21, on a Kelsey Sampson spike and four MU miscues.
 
The teams went back-and-forth early in set 2, but 11-straight points, behind the serving of Bella Foss, led to an 18-6 lead.  Webster would tally three kills, Green two and Nelson one during the run, as the Owls took control to win the set 25-9.
 
Kills from Nelson and Faryn Case, along with four attack errors by the Lions in set 3, put Tech up 7-1 early.  Kristin DePaoli notched four more kills along the way, as the Owls moved up 19-5.  Another kill from Case, and a pair by Alexa Burdett, gave the Owls the set, 25-12, and match. 
 
Whitney Webster and Bailey Nelson led the offensive attack for the Owls with eight kills each with Kristin DePaoli adding seven kills in the win.  Waverly Green came away with a match-high 27 assists with Nelson adding 11 digs and Green 10.  Webster and Nelson recorded four block assists with Burdett coming away with three.
 
For MU Patricia Batoon tallied a team-high seven kills, followed by five from Miranda Halverson.  Marissa Rhodes recorded 14 assists and led the Lions with eight digs. 
 
Next up the Owls host Southern Oregon University on September 22 beginning at 7 p.m. at Danny Miles Court.
