Oregon Tech Downs Walla Walla 105-29
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Walla Walla loses to Oregon Tech at home 105-29 on Windemuth Court.
Right from the tip, Walla Walla University (0-12, 0-7) quickly found themselves behind 8-0 to Oregon Tech (11-5, 5-2), but would hang around for most of the opening quarter with good solid defense and hustle. Trailing 12-4, the Lady Wolves’ Charity Underwood and Kassidy Kuykendall each made 3’s to bring them within a few points of the Hustlin’ Owls, who would lead 18-13 at the end of one.
Despite Walla Walla’s strong first quarter, with only seven eligible players, they just couldn’t keep up with the hustle of OIT. Oregon Tech’s impressive 36 points in the paint to Walla Walla’s 0 in the first half, allowed for the Owls to get a significant 52-18 lead on the Wolves going into halftime.
Morgan Roberts’ 13 points and Tess Armstrong’s 10 points led the Oregon Tech’s impressive 61% shooting offensive, and Lauren Pernu would score 8 points for Walla Walla going into the break.
Unfortunate turnovers for Walla Walla (26 total), kept them from making any kind of comeback as Oregon Tech would control the entire second half and come out with a 105-29 victory.
Morgan Roberts led the game in scoring with 21 points and Megan Whetstone and Tess Armstrong both scored 14 points for the Owls.
Lauren Pernu led the Wolves with 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Lady Wolves will host Southern Oregon University tomorrow at noon.
