CALDWELL, Idaho – Unlucky was the story for the College of Idaho, as the Lady Yotes hit three posts and had a tough bounce go against them, as Corban University took a 2-1 decision at Simplot Stadium.

The Lady Yotes (4-5, 0-4 CCC), who remain the lone winless team in the Cascade Conference, dropped their fifth one-goal match of the season, including three consecutive home setbacks.

The two teams traded jabs early, as the Warriors (8-5, 4-2) struck first in the 15th minute, as Annouscka Kordom collected a loose ball just outside the box and rocketed a pretty half-volley into the extreme right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

C of I had multiple early chances – Jamiece Yizar just missed on a 1-v-1 breakaway in the fourth minute; Katelyn Benavidez had a 15-yard strike clang off the cross bar in the 16th minute; and a touch by Sabrina Mallett in the 22nd minute from just outside the 6-yard-box ricocheted off the cross bar.

The Warriors extended the lead in the 54th minute – as Randi Donahue was fouled in the penalty box.  Her ensuing penalty kick was stuffed by C of I keeper Brittany Houghton, however, the rebound found the food of Donahue, who slotted home the eventual game-winner.

Just over a minute later, the Yotes got on the board, as Reilly Coyle touched a soft pass to Benavidez just inside the 18-yard-box, with the junior striking home a bender into the left corner of the net.

The Yotes continued the pressure as Benavidez had an open 20-yard look inside the final 10 minutes go just wide, while off a pretty cross, Yizar had a header clang off the right post.  C of I had two corner kicks in the final four minutes, but were unable to get the tying goal.

Corban had a slim 12-9 edge in total shots, with both teams recording four corners.  Houghton had four saves in the loss for C of I, with Warriors keeper Shyenne Brusven recording a pair of stops.

C of I returns to action on Sunday, hosting Northwest Christian at Noon.
