Great Falls Hands Eagles First Loss, Remain Unbeaten
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Led by Nneka Nnadi's 23 points, the University of Great Falls improved to 6-0 with an 84-64 non-conference victory over Northwest University in the Adidas Northwest Classic in Kirkland tonight. It was the first loss for Northwest U, dropping them to 3-1.
UGF used two big quarters, the second and third to score 50 of their 84 points to build a lead over the Eagles. The Argos heated up in the second half shooting 63 per cent while holding Northwest U to 35 per cent.
Leading 38-32 at the half, the Argos outscored Northwest U 25-17 in the third quarter to lead 63-49 at the end of the period.
Miranda Langenhorst led Northwest U (3-1) with 18 points and 8 rebounds with Mariah Stacona adding 15 points on 50 per cent shooting (6-12). The Eagles shot 39 per cent for the game (22-57).
In addition to Nnadi's 23 points, Great Falls (6-0) got 13 points from Molly Herron, and 10 points each from Dara Huertas-Vining and Kallee Wilson. UGS out rebounded NU 41-32 with 13 offensive rebounds.
Northwest U will play Montana State Northern tomorrow night while UGF will face Evergreen in the conclusion of the Adidas Northwest Classic.
