Oregon Tech Wears Down College of Idaho for 75-60 Win
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A 10-0 run late in the third quarter helped Oregon Tech pull away from College of Idaho, winning by a 75-60 final in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball action tonight at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech (21-6, 14-3 CCC) will host Eastern Oregon University Sunday, February 14 beginning at 1 p.m. C of I (8-16, 7-11 CCC) will travel to Southern Oregon University.
Oregon Tech’s 6-0 lead to open didn’t last long as C of I scored the next eight to go up 8-6, moving ahead 18-11 on a Madison Pilster score.
A pair of Bailey Nelson free throws and a triple by Ashleigh Vandenbrink drew the Owls to within two points, 18-16, heading into the second quarter.
The teams would trade points the entire second quarter, including four ties, with the Owls taking a 30-29 lead into the break.
The Owls held the same one point advantage with 3:55 remaining in the third quarter, before a 10-0 run expanded the lead to 51-40 with 9:46 remaining in the game. Tech bumped their lead to as many as 18 points, before settling for the 75-60 win.
Three Owls finished in double figures led by a team-high 16 points from Tess Armstrong. Karly Leveque knocked down 13 points and handed out five assists with Ashleigh Vandenbrink chipping in 12 points in the win. The trio grabbed five rebounds each where Tech held a 45-32 edge on the boards.
Ryleigh Swagerty led C of I with a game-high 18 points with Jaycin Tini recording 16 points and six rebounds in the loss. Petra Lumpert grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with 14 points for the Yotes.
