Eastern Oregon Rains 3's in Win Over Walla Walla
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Walla Walla University Lady Wolves (0-26, 0-19) lose to the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers (20-9, 16-4) 100-26 at home on Windemuth Court.
The Lady Wolves opened the game up strong, and played well offensively, but struggled to defend the Mountaineers impressive 3-Point shooting which gave Eastern Oregon a commanding 29-10 lead to end the first quarter.
Eastern Oregon University came out on fire to start the second quarter and connected on their first five shot attempts. They held Walla Walla to zero made baskets to build a 42-10 lead halfway into the second quarter. Lauren Pernu played hard and made all three of the Lady Wolves baskets for the quarter. The Mountaineers solid defense caused Walla Walla University to struggle and gave them the 56-16 advantage at halftime.
The second half was all Eastern Oregon. Walla Walla had no answers for the Mountaineers defense or 3-Point shooting. The Lady Wolves trailed at the end of the third 80-22 and ultimately would lose to Eastern Oregon University by a score of 100-26.
The Mountaineers shot an unreal 17 of 27 from 3-Point range (and started the game 9 of 9) and was led by Jordan Klebaum with a game high of 18 points. Mariah Swanson, Payton Parrish and Darian Gasseling were close behind with 16, 15 and 15 points respectively.
Lauren Pernu and Grace Wallace played well for Walla Walla and finished with 11 and 7 points. Janessa Blaser added 5 points.
