Yotes "Steal" a Win From Wolves
COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The College of Idaho (9-17, 8-12) used a 17 to 5 advantage in steals to come away with an 81-47 win against Walla Walla University (0-27, 0-20).
The Yotes jumped out to an early 10-2 lead after a steal and layup by Petra Lumper and would see their lead grow to 19-7 after Kellie Ross would hit from down town. The Wolves would go on a 5 point run capped off by a layup from senior Lauren Pernu and would end the first quarter down 12-21.
The College of Idaho would steadily increase their lead to go into half with a comfortable lead of 40-20.
Kellie Ross hit another triple to give the Yotes a 36 point lead but this seemed to wake up the Wolves who chipped away at the score. Lauren Pernu brought the score back to within 29 then Kassidy Kuykendall hit a jumper to knock the deficit down to 26 but that was as close as they’d come. The College of Idaho would go on to win 81-47.
Madison Pilster and Petra Lumper led the way for the Yotes with 11 points each while Jaycin Tini contributed a game high 10 rebounds.
In her final game, Lauren Pernu led her team and all scorers with 12 points and added 8 rebounds to her night. Christina Thermidor had 11 points and 8 rebounds while Kassidy Kuykendall contributed 8 points of her own. Grace Wallace led both teams with 5 blocks to go with her 8 rebounds and 6 points.
