Owls Shoot Past Knights in CCC Quarterfinals
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Morgan Roberts hit a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to end the first quarter of play, giving Oregon Tech its first lead of the game at 15-13. The #2 seed Owls never looked back, cruising to a 70-47 win over #7 seed Warner Pacific in Tuesday's quarterfinal round of the Cascade Conference Championships presented by U.S. Bank at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech improves to 24-7 on the year and will host third-seeded Eastern Oregon University (21-9) on Friday at 7:00 pm. The Mountaineer’s knocked off six-seeded Northwest 74-59 Tuesday night. Warner Pacific’s season will end at 14-14.
Warner Pacific scored the first 8 points of the game and led 8-0 at the 7:30 mark in the first quarter. Tech answered with a 5-0 run of their own and eventually tied the game at 11 at the 3:18 mark with the Owls taking the lead on the Roberts’ three ball at the buzzer.
Tech outscored the Knights 23-13 in the second quarter to take a 38-26 lead at the half.
The Owls held the Knights without a field goal until the 3:16 mark in the third period. By that time, OIT had extended its lead to 50-30. Tech outscored Warner Pacific 14-6 to extend its lead to 52-32 at the end of the third period of play.
The Owls closed-out the win with a 18-15 fourth quarter to win 70-47.
Oregon Tech was led by Roberts and Tess Armstrong who each finished with 13 points with Karly LeVeque adding 12 points in the win.
Kasara Brandenburg led the Knights with 14 points off the bench with Taylor Howlett finishing with 10 points in the loss.
Tech out-rebounded the Knights 39-27 for the game.
The Tech defense held Warner Pacific to just 32% shooting for the game while the Owls shot 48% including 59% on 10-17 from long range.
