Atherton, Calif.- The Oregon Tech Volleyball Team kicked off the 2016 season with a three set win (25-19, 27-25, 25-14) over host Menlo College Wednesday night at Haynes-Prim Pavilion.

The hot hitting Owls had an attack kill percentage of .207 led by sophomore Bailey Nelson’s career high 15 kills with Kelsey Sampson adding 10 kills and Mykala Ruby’s 7 kills.

First year OIT Head Coach Andrew Clifton said, “We played well. Our serving and passing was on tonight and we played with courage at the end of game two. It was a great start to our season, but we have a few things to work on too. The team is happy and we are looking forward to this Friday."

Nelson added 6 of Tech’s 12 aces for the match.

Waverly Green held down the middle with 27 assists to lead the Owls.

Oregon Tech will continue their California road trip against NAIA powerhouse and 16th-ranked Westmont (Calif.), on Friday at 10:00 am. The Warriors are 5-0 on the season with wins over Southern Oregon, College of Idaho, and Eastern Oregon from the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
