Lady Owls Down Wolves 3-0
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech volleyball team made quick work of visiting Walla Walla University defeating the Wolves in 3 sets 25-16, 25-13, and 25-13 at Danny Miles Court. Oregon Tech improves to 7-7 on the season and 3-5 in Cascade Conference play with the win, the Wolves move to 1-10 overall on the year, 0-7 in CCC play.
“It was great to see the team so balanced again,” said Head Coach Andrew Clifton. “They worked hard for the win and stayed consistent with their serving and passing.”
Tech got off to a quick start in the first taking a 7-2 lead. The Owls increased that lead to 15-7 after back-to-back aces from Marlee Smith. Walla Walla cut it to a 19-16 game before OIT closed out the set on a 5-0 run to win 25-16.
In set 2, Walla Walla started hot taking a 5-3 lead after an ace by Nilah Mataafa. OIT tied the set at 7, then took a 15-13 lead before winning the last 10 points to win the set 25-13.
The hooters took a 4-1 lead to start set 3 and never looked back winning the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
Tech’s defense had a good night with 14 blocks led by Samantha Szachara’s 4.
Kelsey Sampson once again led the Owls offense with 6 kills on the night with Faryn Case chipping in 6.
Oregon Tech will next host Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho next Friday and Saturday respectively.
