College Place, Wash. – The Lady Wolves hosted the Warriors of Corban University (7-7, 1-5) to bring in the New Year.  The Warriors had it rolling tonight, as they beat Walla Walla (2-10, 0-6), 108 to 57.

  • Walla Walla's leading scorer was Alyssa Blankenship with 18 points
  • Sierra Briggs had 12 points and 4 assists, Lexi Ehlers had 11 points and 4 assists
  • Maddey Pflaumer lead the Warriors in scoring with 20 points and ripped down 6 rebounds
  • Corban had six players reach double figures in scoring, and they connected on 12 three-point field goals for the game
  • The Wolves shot 41.2% from the field while Corban shot 61.4%
How it Happened

Sierra Briggs cut hard to the hoop and scored the first points of the game off a pass from the top of the circle from Emily Downs to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead over the Warriors.  From there, the two teams battled back and forth in the early minutes of the game. Emily Downs connected on a jumper to put the Wolves within in three points at a score of 8-11 with 5:30 to go in the first quarter.  Corban responded with a 15-5 run over the next 5 minutes to put them up by 13 heading into the second quarter.  The Warriors had excellent ball movement tonight as they had assists on 26 of their 43 field goals for the game.  Maci Benedict led the team in assists with 7, and teammate Sade Pilgeram was just behind with 6.  In the third quarter, the Wolves put up 17 points but it was not enough to gain ground on Corban as they finished with 29.  The Wolves had a tough time hanging with Corban on the boards, as the Warriors took the rebounding battle 47 to 19 overall.  Heidi Mueller capped the game by hitting a three with twelve seconds left to give the Warriors the win, 108 to 57 over Walla Walla. 

The Lady Wolves take on Corban University tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m.
