How it Happened
Both teams played efficiently on offense in the first half. Great shooting from Ethan Osias kept the Wolves within striking distance throughout the first half as they trailed by only two with seven minutes remaining. When it looked like Evergreen was slowly pulling away, Zayne Browning provided a huge spark by scoring seven points and making a huge block of what would have been an easy layup, all in a matter of 2 minutes. Walla Walla held a 43-39 lead heading into the break.
The Wolves built on their lead in the opening minutes of the second half, a triple from Chad Torkelsen gave his team a 56-48 lead. The Wolves went up by double digits with ten minutes left in the half after Dylan Browning flashed a sick post move and finished at the rim. The Wolves continued to hold their ten point lead heading into the final five minutes of the game due in large part to the sharp shooting of Ethan Osias. The Geoducks refused to roll over, however. A triple by Evergreen's Dustin Meed sparked a comeback by Evergreen, and cut the Wolves' lead to just two at 72-70 with four and a half minutes left. In the end, the Comeback attempt couldn't prevail simply because Dylan Browning refused to lose on this Sunday as he drained a dagger of a three with one minute remaining. This three gave the wolves an 83-77 lead which they carried until the final buzzer, winning it by a score of 86-77.
